I spent the weekend working on organizing my laundry room. This is something I have to do every so often. There’s a major lack of organization in there and after a while, it just gets out of control. (Please, somebody tell me I’m not the only one!)
As with any good organization project, I attempted to get motivated with a few days of “dream laundry room” searches on Pinterest and Houzz. (And there are definitely some major drool-worthy laundry rooms to see!)
My laundry room is actually fairly spacious, but it also serves as part of my pantry, linen storage and is also a major traffic area, from the driveway to the mudroom/kitchen, so the amount of room to work isn’t as big as it would seem.
As I was searching around, I found several fabulous DIY storage solutions for small laundry rooms that you might like see as well! So I have shared them below. (Big thanks to ARM & HAMMER™ for sponsoring this post!)
My laundry room actually has the perfect spot for a lint trash can, but if it didn’t, I would add this Wall Mounted Lint Bin ASAP! Genius idea!
If you don’t have space for a drying rack, you can make your own with the tutorial for this Wall Hanging Drying Rack.
How many of us have that awkward space in between our washing machines and the wall? Make use of the space by adding a shelf like the blogger did in this laundry room redo. So smart!
This is an excellent solution for laundry sorting. I actually use something similar for my clean laundry. (I sort everyone’s clean clothes into baskets and make them take the baskets to their rooms.) (I could not find the original source for this photo.)
If you have space above your machines, add a wire shelf at an angle to store your baskets.
If you don’t have the space for shelves but do have an empty wall, you could try these wall hanging laundry bags.
A great way to gain counter space is to add a countertop over the top of your washer and dryer like shown in this laundry room makeover.
and this one too:
I especially love the under the machine storage this DYer made for their laundry room:
If you don’t have room for hanging clothes, you could add a pop out valet bar. I’m not sure where this one is from, but I bet you could pick up something similar at your local home improvement store.
One of the ideas I implemented was displaying your laundry supplies in pretty containers. I love this stain removing station idea found over at BHG. So functional, yet such a pretty display item.
Save space by using two-on-one products like ARM & HAMMER™ plus OxiClean™ Power Paks laundry detergent. The Power Paks combine the power of OxiClean™ Stain Fighters and ARM & HAMMER™ Baking Soda in a crystals form. They’re so convenient– just toss a pak in the washer before adding clothing. The pak dissolves quickly and goes to work, fighting stains and will leave your laundry with a great fresh scent.
Now, it’s your turn! Do you have any laundry room storage hacks to share? Sound off in the comments below.
