Today, I’m sharing my favorite way to relax, unwind and “award” myself with a little me time (it is award season after all), plus I have the most amazing 2 ingredient coffee hack to share! This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of InStyle®, PEOPLE®, and StyleWatch®. The opinions and text are all mine. #adv
I’ve always been the type of person who loves making to-do lists and scheduling tasks out in my calendar. There’s just something about having a visual schedule and a detailed list that makes me feel so much more organized than I truly am. Because, on top of normal work and family commitments, cooking, cleaning and household tasks (and oh yes, our house is still on the market), our family has quite a bit going on nowadays.
I find it much easier to deal with these everyday tasks if I know exactly what’s going on and what time the next activity is planned (and how long it takes to get there!) I definitely can ot function without my precious lists. I’ve also learned (the hard way,) if it’s super important – use the reminder app on my phone as a backup. Even with lists and schedules, I’m not sure I really want to disclose how many times I’ve gotten busy with a task and forgotten my daughter needed to be picked up from run club instead of her riding the bus home.
With all of life’s craziness, I count myself very lucky to have a husband who understands my need for a bit of quiet “me time” every week. He’ll often take both kids out of the house for various activities to keep them busy or he’ll just take them along for the ride while doing his weekend errands (which is never fun with a couple of bickering kids- as you probably well know.)
One of my favorite ways to get a little me time is to curl up on my bed or couch with a cup of warm coffee, snuggly blanket and a couple of fun new magazines to browse through. Just this week, I was shopping at Kroger and picked up a couple of my favorites from the rack at the checkout line; PEOPLE, (love my celebrity news) StyleWatch and InStyle. I’m soo ready to make the switch to warm weather fashions and was especially drawn to this month’s StyleWatch – love the pink and coral dresses on the front cover, and I’m definitely eyeing a pair of bright pink suede pumps I found inside. (Those pink pumps may or may not already be in my Macy’s shopping cart, just waiting for them to go on sale or a coupon to be available.)

Ready for that coffee hack I promised?
If you’ve been following along with me for any amount of time, you may have read about my serious love of coffee. I enjoy my coffee ritual so much that I often look forward to getting up in the morning so that I can enjoy a sweet and creamy cup of joe in a favorite mug.
I have the most amazing coffee hack to share with you today!! I learned this little trick over Thanksgiving break from one of my Aunts, and I’m so excited to “share the scoop” with you today!
Are you ready for it? It’s the addition of a pinch or two of baking soda and a few sprinkles of Saigon Cinnamon to the coffee grounds just before brewing. (Make sure to use Saigon cinnamon as evidently, it has distinctive characteristics that sets it apart from the other cinnamon varieties– and yes we tried regular cinnamon first and it was nowhere near as good.)
These two simple pantry staples will elevate any brewed coffee to the most smooth and delicious pot ever. Baking soda helps neutralize some of the acid in the coffee and makes it so much smoother and easier to drink and in much easier on your stomach.
The amount of baking soda you’ll need will vary just a tiny bit based on what kind of coffee you’re using and how strong you brew your coffee.
Start with two pinches of baking soda (make sure it’s a fresh box of baking soda) and 2 sprinkles of the cinnamon and go from there. You’ll know you used too much baking soda if the coffee is weirdly flat, but once you get the right amount, you’ll never brew your coffee again without it. (My aunt even traveled with her ingredients to ensure she got it just the way she liked it – so smart, lol!)
Try it, I can’t wait to hear what you think!
