Awesome, thank you, Jamie! Have you made a ladies pattern like this? Would love to have one. ?
Jamie says
I haven’t, but it is a good idea!

How do you think this would work with a cotton fabric? I’m a bit of a novice sewing with jersey still, but would love to make this for my daughters (plus I already have the cotton lying around). Thanks!
Jamie says
Cotton stretch fabric or quilting cotton? I don’t think it would work with quilting cotton as there would not be enough stretch to get it over the head and shoulders. Also, it would be a little stiff looking. But any type of stretch fabric should be fine.

Do you think this would work with scuba fabric which I bought in the UK. I looked up scuba fabric and this is what I found.
Scuba fabric, a stretchy double knit that is similar to a ponte. Scuba fabric is the fashion version of neoprene, the skin-tight fabric used by scuba divers. Scuba is a double-knit fabric, usually made of Polyester mixed with either Lycra or Spandex

I’ve not yet worked with scuba. I do have some in my stash and it’ pretty thick. You could use it, but you would not get the same flowy top you see in my photos (I used a lightweight flowy rayon cotton blend.) You might have to add a split/ button hole in the back for the neckline.

Thank you. I have made A-line dresses with it and it definitely holds its shape but does not flow.
