I’ve been a Weight Watchers member off and on throughout my adult life. They helped me lose that freshman fifteen after my first year of college, then 10 years later my “happy weight” after being married for a year. Then 10 years after that, most of the baby weight after having 2 kids very close together. One of the aspects of Weight Watchers I enjoyed most was the weekly meetings and weigh-ins. I like the accountability the weigh-ins provided and the motivation and camaraderie I got from the meetings.
Sometime around 40, weight had crept back on and I rejoined Weight Watchers. This time around, even though I was sticking to my SmartPoints™ allotment, I was not having much success. Of course, I became frustrated and quit.
I’ve since learned, my 40-year old, non-exercising, slower-metabolism self won’t be able to lose/keep off weight or feel happy or healthy if all I was eating were sugary cereals and snacks and treats– even if I was staying within my SmartPoints™ range. (Turns out– despite what I always believed, all calories are not equal!) Luckily I figured out the whole/real food added sugar thing and shed the weight.
