We’ve got a new romper!

ruffle romper

This fabric is adorable.  I picked some up at Joann’s a while back and my daughter has been eyeing it on my shelf for a while.  She really wanted me to use it.  There is just something about rainbow hearts and 4 year olds.

I used this romper tutorial from Crafterhours again.  I added a little ruffle at the top and I ended up doing a rolled hem/lettuce edge on the bottom hem of the shorts.  I really wish I had a coverstitch machine, it would be awesome to be able to hem these shorts professionally, since my sewing machine really stretches out knits.

The romper came out a little big, I am going to have to add a bit of elastic around the middle to keep it from falling down.  The shirring just doesnt seem to be holding it up.  I think I will make a casing with some bias tape.

School is out, so we have a special guest in our pictures today.  I was going to put something cute and coordinating on him, but he did not want to be in the pictures, at first.   Of course he changed his mind after we started, so he is just in his jammies…

Here she is checking out our one and only bloom on my rock roses:

The deer have discovered them and keep eating the blooms off the stems!  I guess they missed this one since it is in the back.

I will be linking this post up to some of the fabulous Linky parties found here.

Can you make this with regular fabric or will it be really snug If I don’t use a knit?
Thanks, ( also, what is your easiest tute for trying to learn to use knits?)
