How to Sew a Catnip Toy (Catnip toy tutorial w/ free printable template and video tutorial)
The kids and I have been enjoying watching a fun new (to us) tv show together called My Cat From Hell. Have you seen this show yet? It’s all about misbehaving and aggressive cats wreaking havoc in their households. Every week, a new episode focuses on a couple of different cat families and the problems they are facing. A professional cat consultant visits each family’s home and teaches proper handling and care. Plus he gives suggestions to help remedy the cat’s bad behaviors.

The kids and I get a kick out of watching the show. (Plus every time we watch a new one, I’m reminded to be grateful for our 2 mostly well-behaved cats, lol.)
While the show is all in good fun, it’s actually interesting to learn about what could be causing the different behavioral issues. We’ve even picked up a few great tips on dealing with our 2 kitties. (Tips like – the importance of play time for your cat, catifying your home and keeping your cat healthy regular vet visits and lots of love.
Playtime is so important in the health of your cat. Cats (just like humans) need exercise to release excess energy. Toys like feathers, crinkly balls, play mice, feathers on a string are all great ways to play with your cat and help them release energy.
If you find your cat is not very interested in his toys, you might consider a catnip toy to pique his interest. The good thing is, most cats love catnip and it’s perfectly safe for them as it is part of the mint family.
We are trying to make it a priority to give both our cats more playtime. I put together this simple catnip toy for Rocky and as you can see, he has really been enjoying it!
At first, I thought that Callie (our 20-year-old kitty) wasn’t too interested in the toy, but it turns out, she does play with it! She just prefers her play-time first thing in the morning.
You’ll love how simple this DIY catnip toy is to make. I provided a printable template and you’re basically just sewing a few pieces of felt together and adding catnip.
Easy Peasy!
