Do you have a middle grade reader? I do and I know it can be hard to find books that are fun to read and educational at the same time. I love to read, and I want to make sure I do everything I can to entice/encourage my kiddos to read and love books too!. That’s why I was very happy to be introduced to the book series, Travels with Gannon and Wyatt. (written by Patti Wheeler and Keith Hemstreet.)
The Travels with Gannon and Wyatt books are a series of adventure books for the 9-12 age group.
The series includes:
- Botswana (released May 2013)
- Great Bear Rainforest (released October 2013)
- Egypt (to be released January 2014)
We started with the first book, The Travels of Gannon and Wyatt: Botswana. My son, (he is 8) occasionally has trouble with his attention span and staying on task… I was a little worried that he would not concentrate long enough to get into the book, so I read the first few chapters aloud to everyone. The book is written in a journal format written by the two brothers.
Once the brothers arrived in Botswanna, the real adventures began and I had no trouble getting my son to read on his own.
Isn’t that a sight we all love to see? And with no complaining, what more could I ask for?
Be sure to check out the website for Travels with Gannon and Wyatt there is all sorts of extras that make the book series so much more fun. We especially loved the photo gallery that accompanies each book. (How exciting is it to think that you might be reading about “real” adventures? This is just one of the hundreds of pictures in the photo gallery… Do you think that is really Gannon and Wyatt?)
Would you like to win a copy of the 3 books? (Botswana, Great Bear Rainforest and Egypt) Giveaway is for us residents only and I will randomly choose a winner on November 25th.)
