  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup butter, cold
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 21oz can cherry pie filling

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line an 8×8-inch baking dish with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine flour, granulated sugar, and baking powder.
  3. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Add egg and vanilla extract to the mixture and mix until the dough comes together. The dough will be crumbly.
  5. Press 2/3 of the dough into the prepared 8×8-inch baking dish to form an even layer.
  6. Spread 1 can of cherry pie filling evenly over the dough.
  7. Crumble the remaining dough over the cherry pie filling.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 30 minutes or until the top is golden brown.
  9. Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan before cutting them into squares.
