School is back in session and all our fall activities are in full swing. Life is crazy right now and I know I’m not the only Mom out there that is constantly feeling the pressure of go, go, go all the time.
Let’s face it we are all busy. For me, there are certain tasks that make me crazy or I just dread doing (like folding laundry or grocery shopping with both my kids!) Unfortunately 99.99% of us can’t afford to hire a housekeeper or assistant to take care of these dreaded tasks, but today, I’ve got my top 5 tips to hopefully make your life as a mom easier!
5 Things You can do TODAY to Make Life Easier!
1. Pack lunches the night before.
Mornings are tough for us, it’s not easy to get the kids up, dressed, teeth brushed, hair done and out the door to the bus stop by 7:07. It’s even worse when I look at the clock and see it’s 7:02 and no lunches are packed. (Even though I’ve said at least 5 times, get your lunches packed!)
Our solution to this is ALWAYS to pack lunches the day before. Such a stress relief to not have to deal with putting together sandwiches before the sun comes up!
2. Fill the freezer with freezer dishes.
Meal planning is a lifesaver to me. What makes it even better it to prepare meals just for the freezer. On busy days, it’s like a weight has been lifted from my shoulders to know there is something in the freezer that can be thawed and quickly reheated for a nice family meal. (Here is a great list of 60+ make ahead freezer meals to get you started.)
3. Save passwords somewhere on-line and accessible from anywhere.
I do a lot of my tasks online and it’s such a hassle to go from device to device and not remember all my passwords.
Make your life easier by storing your passwords online, where you can get to them from anywhere. There are tons of apps for out there for storing passwords or you can just create a document to save in google sheets or Dropbox.
LIFESAVER! (Makes it so much easier to finish online tasks while sitting through another sports practice.)
4. Get the Laundry off the floor.
Our cleaning days are Wednesday/Thursday but I often do laundry throughout the week. I don’t mind the actual process of doing laundry – it’s the folding and putting away, I don’t enjoy. In the past, as I would do the laundry, the clean clothes would just pile up all over the floor and counters.
To help with this issue, we bought a tall shelf and a basket for everyone. Now I can sort clothes from the dryer, straight into the person’s basket. (And truthfully – I don’t care how long those clothes sit in the basket – as long as they are off the floor, I feel better and the laundry room appears more organized.)
5. Online Grocery Pickup with Walmart!!
SAVED THE BEST TIP FOR LAST: NO MORE GROCERY SHOPPING WITH TIRED BICKERING CHILDREN! Grocery shopping at 6pm with my two tired and bickering children had to be my most dreaded activity.
I’m happy to announce, we no longer have to suffer through this thanks to the new Walmart Online Grocery Pickup Service.
YES- you can now order your groceries online and pick them up without having to step foot into the store!
I don’t know if I’m coming across excited enough, but being able to order your groceries on the internet and then not even have to get out of your car to pick them up, may be the BEST INVENTION EVER!!! AND it’s a FREE service! ($35 minimum purchase.)
Walmart makes it really easy. Create an account and start shopping. You can browse by department, just like you would if you were at the store:
Or search by specific product:
You can do all your shopping in 15 minutes (or be like me- I kept the page open for a few days and filled my cart). When you are ready to check out reserve a time for your order and begin the checkout process. You can also go through and check off which products you would allow a substitution for if your original choice is not in stock. (FYI- everything I ordered was in stock.)
Finding the pick-up location was a breeze and the building and parking lots were clearly marked.
I had my groceries in my car and I was on my way in less than 10 minutes! (I might even have saved a few extra $$ since I did not buy any of the extras that somehow fall into my cart every time.)
What do you think? Are you ready to be a #groceryhero too? Check to see if Walmart Online Grocery Pick-up is available in your area here. (When entering the zip code, enter the code of where your Walmart is located. The system will only search the entered zip code, not nearby zip codes.)
