I love barbecue!  Unfortunately the summer heat just makes it way too miserable to fire up the grill.   I have been exploring other cooking methods to get my barbecue fix…  I have an unbelievably tasty and very easy recipe for barbecue spareribs in the oven to share today!  These ribs were so tender and flavorful!  I was thrilled how they turned out!

Here is what I started with:

3.5 to 5.5 lbs of pork spareribs
1 1/4 cup of your favorite barbecue sauce, I love Head Country brand, but I supplemented with the Kraft so I would be sure to have enough of the Head Country for the table later.
3/4 cup of apple juice (you could substitute orange juice if needed.)
Large oven bag (you don’t need the oven bag, but I would hate to be the one cleaning the pan later…)

Instructions:
Preheat the oven to 400.
Open the oven bag and combine the apple juice and barbecue sauce inside the bag, so it is mixed up.
Place the ribs inside the bag and squish it around so that everything is coated with the barbecue sauce mixture.  Be careful not to poke a hole in the bag like I did.  (That is why I lined my pan with foil.)
Seal the bag with the tie provided.

Cook for 20 minutes at 400 degrees, then turn the oven down to 250 and cook for another 2.5 hours.
When the ribs are done, the meat will draw back from the bone.

Yum!

  3. We love ribs. I almost always throw them in the crockpot and let them cook all day.
