After School Treats: Classic Chocolate Milkshake

A Classic Chocolate Milkshake: Looks yummy doesn’t it?
The Milkshake recipe is at the bottom of the post… (But first, you will have to suffer through a few back to school pictures!)
We got the first week of school under our belt and I decided we should celebrate with a special treat for snack time today. It is hard to believe I now have a kindergartner and 2nd grader. Time has really flown by.
Both kids are loving school and are adjusting to the new schedule. I am having a bit more difficulty adjusting to the 6:15am wake up time. Even though I am going to bed at 10:30ish, I’m miserably tired. (I feel like I have a major hangover minus the upset stomach!)
Don’t they look happy and excited? (and maybe a bit sleepy and nervous too?)
I’d been worried about being overly emotional and teary-eyed while dropping my my littlest one off to her new kindergarten class. I’m not a cryer (ok,- yes I am), but when I get emotional, my eyes will tear up- its a little embarrassing. Unfortunately/(fortunately?) we got a very late start on Monday morning. (I probably should have done a few test runs on getting them both ready in the morning, I didn’t realize it was going to be 5 times more difficult getting 2 kids ready in the AM…)
By the time we got to school, it was so crowded, there was absolutely no parking! We had to park so far away it took almost 10 minutes to get to her classroom (and I still had to get my son to his class too.) We were so rushed, I didn’t have time to dwell on it at all. There were no tears on my part until after I got back home and the adrenaline had worn off.
Thankfully they had a good first day and our morning routine has been going smoother!
I received a special package from Ghirardelli in the mail the other day. It was a sample of their new chocolate sauce. Talk about a hit around our house! It really is very rich and chocolatey, I can certainly tell a difference between the Ghirardelli chocolate sauce and the brand I normally use.
I’ve been using the chocolate in my iced coffee and as topping on our fruits and desserts all week. I thought it would be perfect in a chocolate ice cream shake for a special afternoon treat to celebrate our first successful week of school! (I would go make myself one right now, but we’re out of ice cream- I guess I’ll settle for an Iced Mocha…)
Classic Chocolate Milkshake (serves 2):
Ingredients:
- 2.5 oz Milk
- 2 cups of vanilla ice cream
- 2 oz Chocolate sauce
Combine all ingredients in a blender and serve.
Enjoy!

Those look fantastic! My oldest just started kindergarten this year – we were so early to his first day that we had to take a little scenic drive to kill time! We were still 10 minutes early after that! It took a few weeks and we finally have a solid schedule down. But I'm still dragging in the morning. I'm not a morning person anyways LOL
