Looking for a way to spruce up inexpensive candles or upcycle the glass jars you’ve been saving? These DIY Glitter Candles are really easy and fun to make.
I’ve been pulling out my Valentine’s Day decorations and came across the supplies for a craft I had intended last year. (So typically me, I won’t mention how often this happens…) I had picked up these little candles at Ikea on one of my last trips. They’re just a couple dollars each and perfect for decorating.
Since Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, I figured I would stick with the heart theme and add glitter hearts instead of one solid color.
To make these candles, you need:
- Candle
- 2 colors of glitter
- Glue (I used Emer’s school glue)
- foam brush
- painters tape
- scissors
- optional spray acrylic sealer/lacquer
Instructions:
To help keep the glitter from falling off and leaving glitter everywhere, it helps to spray a couple of light coats of sealer over the glitter. (I used this kind– hubby had just used it on my son’s Pinewood derby car and was still sitting out, but I think any type of clear-coat sealer would work.)
So very, very cute! Right now, I have the candles sitting on my window sill, but I’ll move them over to the table for our traditional family Valentine’s Day dinner.
