Mythbusting and why you need year-round flea and tick control for your cat.  If you’ve ever wondered, “Do I need to give my cat flea and tick treatment in the winter?”  Then today’s post is for you!

This post is sponsored by Catego® for Cats, but all opinions are my own.

Mythbusting and why you need year round flea and tick control for your cat

Why You Should Have Flea & Tick Control Year-Round For Your Cat

As a proud cat owner, who’s kitties on occasion, spend a bit of time on our back porch.  I understand and appreciate the importance of keeping my cats flea and tick free.  Especially, in the south where the weather can be warm 10 months out of the year. Protecting my cats year-round from fleas and ticks is a high priority on my pet care list!

There are so many misconceptions about these bugs that it’s time to set the record straight!  So, how about a little flea and tick myth-busting?

Myth #1 – Fleas and ticks only survive in the summer months.

Not true!  While it may be true that they thrive better in the summer months, fleas and ticks can still find ways to live and attach themselves to your cats.

In many parts of the country, the temperatures don’t get cold enough for fleas and ticks to go dormant.  And of course, our temperature-controlled homes make it easy for fleas and ticks to survive.

Myth #2 – If you don’t visually see any ticks or fleas on your cat, that means that they probably don’t have any that you need to worry about.

Myth = Busted.  Fleas and their eggs can be microscopic small and just because you don’t see them, doesn’t mean they’re not there!

Myth #3 – Fleas and ticks can’t actually do any harm to your cat. They’re just more of a nuisance to the pet owners.

Try looking your cat straight in the face and telling them this myth. It’s so far from the truth, it’s almost (almost!) comical. Fleas can cause your cat to lose quite a bit of blood and have also been known to cause tapeworm. Ticks can also be carriers of various diseases that they can then pass on to your cats.

Don’t be tempted to skimp on the care for your cats. I know for a fact that my two cats are purr-fectly (see what I did there?!) content with my decision to have flea and tick control for them year-round. Now, instead of spending their free time scratching all the bites all over their body, they can instead enjoy doing things that they love doing like lying in the sunlight or sitting on my keyboard when I’m trying to type.

I personally use Catego® for Cats. It’s a great way to protect your fur-babies from Flea and Ticks. Catego is designed specifically to meet the unique needs of cats.  Just one topical application will protect your cat for one month and it kills fleas within 6 hours!

The best part is, it’s super easy to apply thanks to the tube shape and patented applicator.  Catego® is currently available at PetSmart, Amazon and veterinarians.

Now it’s your turn!  Do you have cats?  I’d love to know. Share in the comments below!
