To make the skirt, I used my Flat Front Skirt Pattern. (Love this pattern.) I wanted the skirt to be simple in design to show off the felt trees; so instead of adding a contrasting band to the bottom, I added 3 inches to the skirt length.

Arent the little trees adorable? I used my Cuttle Bug and the We R Memory Keepers Christmas tree die set. I’ve got to find some other uses for the felt trees, maybe I will stitch them to gift tags or make a garland…
If you want to make a skirt similar to this one, it’s really easy! You can use felt or your favorite fabric. (If you use felt, be sure to wash it before using – it will shrink.) I used the Pellon EZ Steam II (leftover from our Halloween Treat Bags) to attach the trees. The EZ Steam has a permanent bond, so you can apply these with just an iron or stitch them for a little extra pop! (It is safe to sew through the the fusible web/glue.)
Ready to make the skirt?
Follow the Flat Front Skirt tutorial to make the skirt. (Or use your favorite skirt pattern.)
Stop once you have assembled the main part of the skirt, and before any gathering.
Cut a strip of the EZ steam, just a bit taller that the die and apply to the felt. (Follow the package directions to determine the correct side of the EZ Steam to use first.) Trim the felt.
Pull the backing off the shape and apply to fabric
(I love this mint green hot pink combo!)
Once you have the shapes in the desired positions, iron in place.
Stitch around the shape if desired!
Complete the skirt assembly and you’re done! Go show it off!
