The holidays are just around the corner! I don’t know about you, but right now, I’m in deep cleaning mode. In just a day or two, I’ll be hosting our thanksgiving dinner for 18 family members, and I still have so many things that still need to be done…
When cleaning the house for guests, I have a method/cleaning schedule I like to follow. Most importantly, I always leave the kitchen for last. Then, I send the hubby and kids out for dinner in the evening to keep it clean. (If I don’t, then I just end up having to re-clean the kitchen.)
Part of cleaning the kitchen to perfection is getting all of my stainless steel shining to perfection. and to do that you need a good stainless steel cleaner and polisher.
A stainless steel cleaner will clean, polish, condition, and shine without streaking. It will help to repel dirt, smudges, and fingerprints. As a house with 2 sticky-fingered children, I need all the help I can get. (What’s even better is that you can use it on copper, chrome, aluminum, fiberglass, kitchen appliances, outdoor grills, automotive trim, and/or bathroom fixtures.)
To clean my microwave door, I spray the cleaner directly on the door and let it soak in. You can see how thick the cleaning spray is. (It leaves a microscopic coating that absorbs into the surface to help protect your stainless steel.)
Turned out pretty good don’t you think? Here is a before and after shot:
Next, I used the stainless steel cleaning solution on my stovetop.
I’ll admit, I don’t clean my stove stop after each use, so it was pretty dirty and I had to use a hot soapy sponge first to remove all the dried-on spills. I’m sure you can picture the streaks left behind…
But look how gorgeous my stainless steel cooktop looks after I applied polished it with the stainless steel cleaner. It looks brand new again! (and we’ve lived here over 3 years, check out the reflection of the middle burner…)
*Update: my original favorite cleaner was sommething called steel miester that you could find at Home Depot. It has now been discontinued and I use Weiman Stainless Steel Cleaner. I have it in both the wipes and the spray. (I do love the convenience of the wipes, but the spray works great too.) For best results with the Weiman Stainless Steel Cleaner, you clean the surface with the wipe (or paper towel if using the spray), and then polish with a microfiber cleaning colth. Perfection every time!
What do you think? have you tried a specialty stainless steel cleaner? What is your favorite brand? Please share in the comments!
