We are starting to get our Halloween decorations out and I thought it would be fun to make mini jack-o-lanterns for my kids rooms.
These Jack-O-Lantern Luminary candles were so easy to make and the kids love having them in their rooms!
Would you like to make a few of these? (It's a great way to use up all those old jelly/baby food/dip glass jars we've all been
Here is how I made them:
Materials:
- Small glass jars w/ lids
- Paint (I used leftover spray paint, but I am sure acrylic would work too.)
- Stickers/Sticker paper (I used address labels)
- Scissors/exacto knife
- Tweezers
- Tea lights
Instructions:
On your sticker paper, draw out whatever shape you like.
Cut the shapes out with the exacto knife or scissors
Apply the stickers to the jar with your tweezers and press them down firmly to avoid paint seeping under the stickers.
Give the jars a couple coats of paint. Paint your lids if desired. I painted one black and tied a green piece of scrap fabric around the other.
Once the paint is dry, peel off your stickers, add the tea lights and they're done! They both came out so cute!
This would make an awesome kids craft! Have fun making your lanterns!

ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing this at The DIY Dreamer... From Dream To Reality!
I just have a question/comment about the emails I receive from you. Recently whenever I click on your email something pops up saying something like "scatteredthoughts/assets/pinterest...." and it is very slow to go away. This started about 2-3 weeks ago and it does it on my 2 computers. I guess it's a bug of some kind and I thought you might want to get it checked out...it is kind of annoying. I'm sorry to post this here but I didn't see any way to email you privately. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteI have heard this one other time, I think it has to do with the "pin it" button I add. I will try to remember to NOT add the button until after the email goes out. Thanks for letting me know...

ReplyDeleteThis is so darling! I would love to do something similar for my daughter's class for Halloween. (I'm room mom) I wonder if I could trust 33 6th graders with spray paint and exacto knives... ;-) Perhaps I will tweak your idea and use tissue paper and mod podge? Thanks for the really fun inspiration!
