Today, I’m sharing how to make heart-shaped cupcakes! These sweet little heart-shaped cupcakes are perfect for Valentine’s Day and even little girl birthdays.
Happy Birthday to my little missy! I can’t believe she is six years old! Where did my little baby go?
In the span of a week, she turned 6, lost her first tooth, AND got her ears pierced! I was a big week, lol. (Ear piercing tip- make sure you go to a place where they will do both ears at the same time. Oh, the drama – I really thought she would end up with just one ear done!)
My missy’s birthday is in January, but always falls during the Winter Break. Even though her birthday is well passed, I still bring treats to school after the holidays.
This year was no exception.
I asked her what she would like for me to bring to class and she wanted strawberry heart cupcakes.
OK, Strawberry Heart Cupcakes it was!
The cupcakes I made for her class weren’t made with any special recipe, just strawberry cake mix from the box and icing that you buy the separate flavor for.
I added just a bit of pink food coloring to the icing for a little extra pop.
How to Make Heart-Shaped Cupcakes
Making Heart Shaped Cupcakes is actually very easy and this technique works with any recipe, whether from scratch or a box.
- All you need is a handful of glass marbles (or, as in my case, I used a bag of decorative glass ovals. The kind you see in floral arrangements and fishbowls.)
- Cupcake liners
- Cupcake pan or muffin tin.
Make the Cupcakes
- Place the cupcake liners in the cupcake tin.
- Drop 1 to 2 marbles into each well – You’ll notice the cupcake liner takes the shape of a heart.
- Fill the liners with you cupcake batter. Then pop your cupcakes into the oven for 20 to 25 minutes, and voilà! Strawberry Heart Shaped Cupcakes!
Pro Tip:
My one tip for making these heart-shaped cupcakes is to make sure not to over-fill the cupcake liners.
Fill them no more than 2/3’s full!
The ones that were overfilled puffed up too much and lost a lot of their heart shape.
The Heart Shaped Cupcakes turned out super cute. She loved them and so did all her little classmates!
What are your little ones’ favorite birthday treats? (My son is partial to S’mores on a Stick.)
