Michaels has just kicked off Camp Creativity- a Summer Crafting program just for kids!
We’re a big fan of crafting around here (both mom and kids) and I’m always trying to come up with new activities for us to do. One of our favorite places to go for crafting and supplies is Michaels. We’ve had birthday parties there and frequently join in the evening and weekend activities they often have on their schedule. (The the last one we attended to was the tie dye event; my lil missy and her friend made fabulous tie dye nightgowns!)
This summer, Michaels will be hosting Camp Creativity! The 2 hour camp will run for the next seven weeks on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays; (June 13 – July 29) from 10 a.m. to noon. Each week will have different theme and is a great opportunity for kids to have fun and express their creativity by making awesome crafts and letting their imaginations run wild! Moms’ are welcome to stay and participate or spend the time shopping/browsing in the store. (I did watch in the classroom for a while, but felt comfortable enough to leave my lil missy with the instructor so I could do a little shopping on my own.)
This week’s Camp theme was dinosaurs.
She made a fabulous watercolor dinosaur, a 3D dinosaur fossil (ok- she scrapped the dinosaur cutout and made her own 3D kitty, lol) and a 2 headed pterodactyl. (The best part? No cleanup required by me, lol!)
Classes are $5 per child per session or 3 sessions for $12. Sign-ups for camp are ongoing and can be done online or in-stores for each session or for a week at a time. Camp Creativity is designed for kids age 3-8. Each session begins at 10am, is designed to last 90 minutes to 2 hours and has two projects plus a journal activity and related coloring sheets. Each week has a Face Paint Friday event, where all Camp participants can get free face painting!
What do you think, is this a program you and your kids would enjoy? Let me know in the comments below.
