Monday Craft: Paper Plate Maraca’s

Our craft project for this week was Paper Plate Maracas. This was a very simple project, but it really got the kids creative juices flowing. I enjoy watching the decorating ideas my little ones come up with.

Here are the steps we took to make the Maraca’s

First, I gathered all our supplies. (They insisted on being in the photo.) We used:

  • paper plates
  • dried beans
  • stapler
  • various items for decoration (construction and tissue paper, crayons, glue, scissors, craft punches)
For safety reasons (and the fact I did not want beans spread all over the house), I decided to make the actual Maraca’s myself. I folded a paper plate in half, added about 3/4 cup of beans and stapled the plate securely together.

Then, I just set the kids loose to decorate them however they wanted.

I think the most fun came from the little performance they gave afterward:

They were very proud to show off their creations to Daddy, Nana and Papa!

I will be linking up to some of the fabulous Linky parties found here.
