Favorite Finger Foods for Dipping
Our family will always take advantage of any opportunity to get together with friends; gameday is a perfect reason. Food, fun, and watching the game with friends on a big-screen TV (no matter which team we’re rooting for) beat out actual tailgating in the extreme Texas weather any day.
When we host a party, a few staple foods always appear on the menu: queso and chips, burgers and brats, and, of course, a selection of easy finger-food-sized snacks. And all those yummy finger foods need dipping sauces!
Why You Need These Dipping Sauces in Your Life:
Mozzarella Sticks, Jalapeno Poppers, Meatballs, Chicken Rollups, Potato Skins, French Fries, Wings—you name it, we love it! All of these finger snacks are great on their own, but they are so much better with an amazing dipping sauce!
Sure, you can toss together some ranch dressing and yogurt and call it a day, but for the ultimate game day spread, you need a little variety in your dipping. Easy dips, like:
- Honey Mustard
- Chipotle Aioli
- Yum Yum Sauce
- Avocado Ranch
- Marinara
Any one of these five easy sauces will elevate your appetizer tray!
Kitchen Tools Needed
The best part of these dipping sauce recipes is that they are super simple to make, and a few can be made with just a fork! (Like the Avocado Ranch or Honey Mustard Dipping Sauce.)
But if you’re making any of these simple sauces in bulk, I recommend using a more powerful kitchen tool. (You definitely need a power chopper to dice the chipotle peppers in the Chipotle Aioli.) You can use a blender, nutri ninja, or my new favorite toy – my mini Cuisinart chopper and have all these dipping sauces ready to go in just about 5 minutes.
What is the best dipping sauce?
That is a difficult question to answer as it depends on your tastes and what you are dipping.
My favorite from the list below is the Chipotle Aioli, but I think the best all-around dipping sauce is the Yum Yum sauce.
It has the most ingredients of all the dipping sauces on this list, but it tastes great with almost everything. It doubles as a topping for burgers, salad dressings, and chicken, and it even goes well with seafood like shrimp or sushi!
5 Easy Dipping Sauce Recipes and Ideas for your Next Party:
Here are the five dipping sauce recipes and ideas that come together in five minutes flat. (This does not include the time it takes to wash out your blender, lol.) Multiple dipping sauce choices will put your appetizer tray over the top, I promise!
Recipe Tips
- Start with Fresh Ingredients: When possible, always use fresh herbs and spices in your dipping sauces. They bring vibrant flavors that dried or old ingredients can’t match.
- Make ahead: You can prepare each sauce in advance. Sauces often taste even better after sitting for a bit, allowing the flavors to meld together and become more intense.
- Fast prep: Use a blender for even faster prep. (See notes above about my favorite blenders.)
- Don’t forget about presentation: Serve sauces in small bowls or cups, garnishing with a touch of fresh herbs or a sprinkle of spice for added visual appeal. Small chalkboard signs or paper cards are always useful to identify which sauce is which.
- Freeze for Future Use: If you’ve made a large batch, consider freezing portions in ice cube trays. Once frozen, transfer the cubes to a freezer bag for easy, single-use portions.

Marinara Sauce
Perfect for Mozzarella sticks!

- 1 (8-ounce) can tomato sauce
- 1 tablespoon olive oil

Storage Suggestions
To ensure your dipping sauces stay fresh and delicious, store them covered in the fridge, where they will last for up to one week. Enjoy every drop!
