How to Host an Unforgettable Summer Party!
Food selections
If you have a good number of people coming over, it is best to offer a decent selection of foods. Say for example you are having a BBQ. Make sure that you are grilling more than one type of meat and include several side options. Additionally, make sure you have lots and lots of colorful fruit, veggies and other snacks available for your guests to snack on. Summertime is all about bright colors and fresh flavors.
Fun Desserts
If you plan to offer desserts, make them fun! During the Summer months, people love ice cream and there’s nothing better to make your guests smile than I Love Ice Cream Cakes! The Ice Cream Cakes come in many different styles and sizes, including original Carvel®, Jon Donaire® and OREO®.
A premade ice cream cake is definitely a time saver. Not having to make a dessert leaves more time to work on the rest of the preparations. (And I’m all about fewer items to stress about, lol!)
I Love Ice Cream Cakes are perfect for all occasions and summertime celebrations. They are available in grocery stores in the bakery or freezer section nationwide. (Find a location near you with this store locator.) Personally, my favorite is the Oreo®. This deliciously decadent cake combines Vanilla flavored ice cream with OREO® cookie pieces, whipped frosting and is topped with a huge OREO® cookie wafer! (Who wouldn’t go for that cake on a hot summer day!) Yum!

Lots of drinks
A variety of drinks is definitely a priority for a Summer party. Summertime is hot and you want people to stay cool. Provide lots of ice cold beverages like iced tea, chilled sodas and juices and lots and lots of bottled water. I like to fill a cute wooden barrel or metal tub with ice to have the drinks chilling in. It’s always a good idea to keep a separate cooler full of ice to add to the drink holders or in case you run out.
Creative Decorations
I often use the food and drinks for my parties as part of my decor and it is always a hit. I will have a platter of colorful mixed fruit as a table centerpiece or a pretty pitcher of tea or sangria as another centerpiece. It goes well with the Summer party theme while cutting back on decorating expenses and work. Add some string lights and you have simple, yet elegant party decor.
Music
Music and parties just go hand in hand. Make sure you have lots of great music cued up at just the right noise level. You want great mood setting music and plenty of background noise, but you don’t want the music being so loud that it makes it hard for party goers to have conversations.
Activities
Sometimes just the food and conversation is activity enough, however, it is always a good idea to offer some fun Summertime activities just in case. If you have kids there, a pool or sprinkler are easy activity choices. For adults though, there are lots of fun options. For example, you can get a horseshoe set, have a frozen tee shirt race, play cornhole or many other fun Summer games.
