Scattered Thoughts of a Crafty Mom

Chicken Nugget Mashed Potato Bowls

I made Mashed Potato Bowls as an easy Dinner using Tyson Spicy Chicken Nuggets and the Tyson Cheesy Chicken Nuggets.  This shop has been compensated as part of a social shopper insights study for Collective Bias and its client. #LoveUrNuggets

What a busy, busy week I had last week! We had all of our normal activities (including both kids theater arts performances- at different times of course.) On top of that, I was preparing to go out of town for a week, so not only did I have to squeeze 2 weeks worth of work in one week, I also had to get the entire house cleaned and de-cluttered for hosting the family Thanksgiving festivities at my house when hubby and I get back from our trip...  (curious about my trip?  be sure to check out my Instagram feed at the bottom of the blog page.)

Needless to say, there were not a lot of home cooked meals last week! Due to lack of time and an attempt to keep my kitchen semi- clean, I mostly put together quick meals and stuff from the freezer. One of the items I had on hand were the new Spicy and Cheesy Chicken Nuggets from Tyson I had found on my last trip to Wal-Mart.  Have you seen these nuggets yet?  They aren't your average nuggets! (I particularly like the Spicy Nuggets, they have just the right amount of kick.)

As I was getting ready to prepare the nuggets for dinner, my daughter came into the kitchen and announced she wanted mashed potatoes! I knew there was a full box of instant mashed potatoes and at least one package of gravy in the pantry, so I thought it would be fun to make Mashed Potato bowls using both the spicy and the cheesy Tyson chicken nuggets and let the kids decide which flavor they liked better...

Can I just say these mashed Potato Bowls were awesome!  I prefer country gravy over brown gravy and this brand was one of the best I've had.  (It was a dry gravy mix- I don't remember the brand, but I will check when I get home and update this post later.)

My daughter and I preferred the Spicy Chicken Nugget bowls, I thought they were great with the mashed potatoes and gravy, though my son liked the Cheesy Chicken Nuggets.

  1. That looks pretty tasty for a quicky meal. I'll have to show this to hubs as he runs out of ideas and asks me occasionally what he can fix. Yeah hubs does the cooking and has for several years now. I lost interest when I had to work long stressful hours and then a long crazy drive home in San Diego. All the kids were gone by then so it was just us. He asked one too many times what was for supper when I'd get home at 9:p.m. or later. I couldn't believe he'd sit there and wait for me to cook. Don't think so buddy. Then when I cooked he'd be grabbing the cooking tools out of my hands so he could do it better. He's retired now so it's good for him to have something to do. We'll see what he does with this meal. Happy Thanksgiving

  2. I was just looking in my pantry at the leftover potatoes and wondering what I would do with them! Kroger had such a great deal on a 5 lb bag of potatoes last wk, but it's not a deal when you don't use up all of them! So, mashed potato bowls here we come!

  3. Wow! Those look delicious. My husband buys those from one of his favorite fast food joints often. I never thought of making them at home. #client
