Ingredients + Tips
(Ingredients at a glance, find the full printable ingredient list, and instruction card at the bottom of the post.)
- Phyllo Cups – Frozen phyllo cups are pre-baked and ready to fill. They have flaky layers and are a great texture balancing creamy goat cheese and juicy cranberries.
- Cheese Mixture – This recipe uses a mixture of goat cheese and cream cheese for a tangy, creamy filling that melts nicely.
- Cranberries – Fresh cranberries are best for this recipe, but frozen can be used as well. I do not recommend dried cranberries.
- Honey – Adjust the honey based on how sweet you like your sauce. Maple syrup can also be used.
- Rosemary – Fresh rosemary adds an herbal flavor that balances the sweetness and tartness of the cranberries. It can be left out if you do not have rosemary.
- Orange Zest – Orange is a perfect complement to cranberries, and the zest adds just the right amount of flavor.
How To Make Cranberry Cheese Bites
- Preheat oven to 350°F (177°C).
- Place phyllo cups in a single layer in a baking dish, sheet pan or mini muffin pan.
- Fold goat cheese and cream cheese together using a rubber spatula or a hand mixer.
- Spoon about 1 teaspoon of the goat cheese mixture into the phyllo cups, pressing the cheese into the bottom of each cup.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes.
- Meanwhile, place the cranberries, rosemary, orange zest, honey, and water in a medium saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, for about 5 minutes or until the cranberries have burst and the liquid thickens into a sauce.
- Spoon about a teaspoon of cranberry sauce over the baked goat cheese cups, add an optional sprig of rosemary for garnish and serve immediately.
Recipe Variations
- Use puff pastry, crescent roll dough, or pie dough in a mini muffin tin instead.
- Don’t like goat cheese? Use all cream cheese instead.
- Not a fan of homemade cranberry sauce? These bites would be delicious with raspberry jam, blackberry jam, pepper jelly, or cranberry curd instead.
- Add chopped pecans, walnuts, or pistachios.
