DIY Lemonade Stand

We spent the week, having a lot of fun and making almost everything we needed and getting everything together to have the stand on Saturday morning.
We had a great time. Not too many paying customers, but that was ok, we didn’t really expect any. We live at the back of a spread out neighborhood, at the edge of town. We were just hoping to catch some of the early morning walkers and joggers.
We had big cups of Lemonade for 50 cents and these smaller white cups we gave out as “free samples”. We also had rice krispie treats which I didn’t bring out until later. (We had to wait for Dad to get up so I could finish wrapping them up.)
My son really did the bulk of the work with me on Saturday morning. He helped me carry everything out and he prepared each cup of lemonade and made change. (I need to flip through his new Wolf handbook and see if this will count toward any badges.)
Luckily, I had everything I needed on hand to make the lemonade stand so I didn’t have to spend any money…(except for the ice.)
For the lemonade sign, I found this printout at the Tom Kat Studio Blog. I printed it out in black and white (I did not want to use up all my colored printer ink- that stuff is $$$) and the kids colored in the letters and I glued them to the paper.
For the table, I just used our patio coffee table and hot glued and duct taped long wooden dowels I had bought (for a project I never made) to the table. Then hot glued the banner to the dowels.
For the tablecloth, I cut up white Ikea sheets from my stash. I cut four rectangles to the measurements of the top of the table and 3 sides and sewed them together. Then ruffled some strips of fabric and sewed them to the rectangles. I do plan on adding a 4th panel to the other side so I can re-use the table cloth on my back porch. It is just to pretty to put away! (If you don’t sew, just use a regular sheet over a table.)
The pennant banner was made with fabric left over from my picnic quilt project. I have always wanted to make one of these and I finally had a reason too. (Now I just need to figure out what to do with it.)
I made the Keep Calm and Drink Lemonade sign and some lemonade/rice krispie printables with Photoshop Elements. The links to the downloadable images are at the bottom of the post.
Every time we heard a car come by, I had one of them wave around the Free Sample sign. Almost everyone stopped for a sample, it really was just too cute!
They were waving at a group of cyclists here, the cyclists didn’t stop though, they were much to serious!
At the point we started dancing and playing basket ball in the street, I decided it was time to wrap it up! We made it to about 10:15am and that was pretty good. See the hill behind them? It is actually very high and gave us shade until we went in. We will definitely be putting the lemonade stand out a few more times this summer.
