Recipe Tips

  • Preheat your oven for even baking and crispy crusts.
  • Spray or grease your muffin tins well.
  • Don’t overfill the cups—this prevents them from spilling over the edges while baking.
  • Use softened cream cheese to make mixing the filling easier.
  • Chop chicken into small, bite-sized pieces for the best texture.
  • Taste-test the chicken mixture before filling the cups to adjust the seasoning.
  • Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving—they’ll hold together better!

Variations

Want to tweak the recipe? Try these ideas:

  • Buffalo Style: Add hot sauce and blue cheese to the filling for a spicy kick.
  • Mexican-Inspired: Use taco seasoning and a mix of cheddar and pepper jack cheese.
  • Veggie Delight: Mix in diced bell peppers, spinach, or mushrooms for extra color and flavor.
  • BBQ Chicken: Swap cream cheese for barbecue sauce for a smoky, sweet filling.
  • Spinach & Artichoke. Mix in some spinach and chopped artichoke hearts for a creamy veggie option.
  • Bacon Ranch. Add crumbled bacon and ranch seasoning for a tangy twist.

Storage Suggestions

These chicken muffin cups are perfect for meal prep! Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To freeze, wrap individual cups tightly in plastic wrap, then place them in a freezer-safe bag for up to 2 months. Reheat in the oven or air fryer for the best texture!

FAQs

Can I use crescent roll dough instead of biscuit dough?

Absolutely! Crescent roll dough can give a lighter, flakier texture to the cups.

What’s the best cheese to use?

Cheddar is a classic choice, but you can mix it up with mozzarella, Monterey Jack, or even smoked gouda for added flavor.

Can these be made in the air fryer?

If you have an air fryer-safe muffin tin, like the one linked here, you can absolutely try making these in the air fryer. Remember that cook times may vary depending on your air fryer model. I recommend setting the temperature to 350°F and cooking them for 5 to 12 minutes. Be sure to check that they’re fully cooked through and golden brown on top before serving.

How do I reheat these without them getting soggy?

Your best bet is the oven or air fryer. To restore crispness, bake at 350°F for 5-10 minutes.
