Crock Pot Christmas Candy

Christmas will be here before you know it, and I always like to have lots of fun holiday treats on hand. This recipe for Crockpot Christmas Candy is one of the easiest you can make!

The crockpot does most of the work for these white chocolate candies. All you have to do is toss the ingredients into the crock pot, give it a stir, and scoop out the yummy candy mixture!

I like to place these sweet white chocolate treats on the dessert table or cookie trays during the holiday season, but you could also pack them up into little thank-you gifts for your guests or hand them out as holiday presents for teachers, neighbors, or anyone else you think may need something sweet.

Easily prepared a few days in advance, you can get these candies off your to-do list and stash them on the countertop until you are ready to serve them.

(Ingredients at a glance; find the full recipe with ingredient amounts in the printable recipe card at the bottom of the post.)

  • Cookies and Cream Bars | These bars get melted into the holiday bark. You could replace them with white chocolate chips, but I love that little cookie crunch you get from the Cookies and Cream Candy Bars.
  • White Chocolate Chips | White chocolate chips or white melting chocolate will both work.
  • White Almond Bark | This chunky bark adds more flavor and sweetness to this candy. White candy melts work as well.
  • Roasted Peanuts | Roasted peanuts add a delicious salty crunch. Make sure not to buy seasoned peanuts, just roasted. Salted or lightly salted both work.
  • Optional | Christmas Sprinkles

How To Make White Chocolate Christmas Candy

1 Add all the ingredients to a large crockpot, breaking up the larger pieces. You can lightly grease it if you wish.

2 Slow cook on low for one hour to 1.5 hours. (All Crock Pots heat differently, so I recommend checking the candy at 1 hour to ensure the chocolate does not burn. Stir if necessary and keep checking on the candy in 15-minute increments until fully melted)

3 Line a baking sheet with parchment paper (or wax paper) and drop spoonfuls of the mixture onto the paper. (I did about 1.5 tablespoons per candy cluster.) Sprinkle each one with optional Christmas sprinkles. Let cool until the peanut clusters fully harden.

Recipe Tips

  • Break the chocolate into small chunks so it melts quickly.
  • If your crockpot is out of commission, you can melt everything on the stovetop or microwave. See the instructions in the FAQ’s below.
  • Check the crock pot at about the one-hour mark and stir the candy if needed.
  • Don’t let the chocolate sit too long before adding your toppings; otherwise, they won’t stick.
  • For uniformly sized candy, use a one or two tablespoon cookie scoop to scoop out the chocolate. (Depending on the size you want the candy to be.)

Variations

  • Change up the white chocolate for all dark, milk, or semi-sweet chocolate chips. (Or a combination of all three.)
  • Add dried fruit like cranberries or currants, or throw in some mini marshmallows.
  • Change up the nuts; almonds or pecans would be great, but I especially love salted cashews or macadamia nuts.
  • Toss in some broken pretzels or chow mein noodles for a more traditional haystack-like candy.
  • Add a 10 oz bag of peanut butter chips for a peanut butter candy. (So good! Kind of like avalanche cookies.)
  • Add red or green food coloring to the candy for a more seasonal look.
  • Pour the melted chocolate into a lined muffin tray instead of dropping it on a cookie sheet.
  • Change up the sprinkles to make these for any holiday or theme.

Storage

Leftover crockpot Christmas candy will keep for up to one week in an airtight container on the kitchen counter. You can store it in the refrigerator for longer. (Let it sit at room temperature a bit before biting into the candy.)

To freeze, place the candy in a freezer bag and store it in the freezer for up to 3 months.

FAQs

Can this recipe be doubled?

Yes, you can easily double or triple this recipe with no changes.

How long does homemade Christmas candy last?

Christmas candy will last up to one week in an air-tight container. You can always freeze leftovers so they last a bit longer.

Can I make this crockpot Christmas candy nut-free?

Yes, absolutely. Replace the nuts with pretzels, chow mein noodles, caramel bits and/or dried fruits.

Can I make this crockpot Christmas candy on the stove or microwave?

Yes, you can. The slow cooker is not necessary; it just gives a more hands-off approach,

For the stove: Add all the chocolate to a large pot. Heat over medium heat, stirring frequently until the chocolate has melted. Add the nuts and continue with the recipe.

For the microwave: Add the chocolates to a microwave-safe bowl. Melt on high for 1 minute and stir. Continue melting the candy at 30-second increments, stirring each time. Once the chocolate has melted, stir in the peanuts.

One thing to keep in mind for the stovetop or microwave version versus the slow cooker is the chocolate will harden quickly, so you will need to work fast to get all the candy scooped out. (You can keep the slow cooker on warm to keep the chocolate from setting up too fast.)

Should I use salted or unsalted peanuts?

This is a matter of choice. I love salted for that salty/sweet combination. If using unsalted, try sprinkling a bit of sea salt over the tops.

Why isn’t my Crock Pot Candy Setting up?

It is hard to say what the issue is without being there with you. It could be the house is too warm or the type of chocolate you used. Give the candy a full hour to set up; after that you can place it in the fridge to fully harden.
