Easy Strawberry lemonade

We went strawberry picking a few weeks ago and brought home several pounds of the sweetest strawberries ever.

We’ve made Strawberry Smoothies, Strawberry Shortcake, Strawberry Jam, Homemade Strawberry Ice Cream. If you can put strawberries in it – we’ve made it.

The kids have been begging me to make this lemonade recipe over and over.  It is so easy and yummy, you should definitely make some right away!

We go to Sweet Berry Farms in Marble Falls for strawberry picking.

Why you’ll love This Easy Strawberry Lemonade

  • Simple – You’ll be amazed at how easy it is to make this refreshing lemonade.
  • Loaded with flavor – This lemonade is loaded with lemon and strawberry flavor.
  • Modifiable – Feel free to substitute with homemade lemonade or use different fruit.
  • Easily doubled – You can make a double batch and turn half into popsicles.

Ingredients for the Strawberry Lemonade

(Ingredients at a glance, you will find the full printable recipe with ingredient amounts in the printable recipe card at the bottom of the post.)

  • Store-bought lemonade mix: We used Country Time Lemonade for speed (plus we know we like it), but use whatever lemonade mix you like – even a homemade lemonade recipe works.
  • Strawberries: Fresh strawberries are best but frozen work too. If using frozen, allow to thaw.
  • Optional: Additional sugar if you like your lemonade extra sweet.
  • Optional garnishes: Fresh lemon slices, extra strawberries, or a pinch of fresh mint would all taste great.

How to Make Shortcut Strawberry Lemonade:

1 Mix up your lemonade. Prepare the lemonade in a pitcher.

2 Muddle the strawberries. Pour 1/2 cup of the lemonade into a glass or large measuring cup with a lip. Add a handful of strawberries and muddle or mash them into the bottom of the cup. If you like your lemonade extra sweet, muddle in a few tablespoons of granulated sugar along with the strawberries. When you have mashed the 1st handful of strawberries, pour the mixture back into the pitcher of lemonade. Pour a little more lemonade into the cup and muddle another handful of strawberries.

3 Repeat until all the strawberries are muddled. Repeat step 2 until all the strawberries are muddled into the lemonade.

4 Serve. Pour the lemonade into glasses with ice and garnish as desired.

Recipe Tips

  • Use a muddling tool to mash the strawberries. I used the pampered chef tart shaper – works great!
  • If you aren’t up for muddling, you can place the strawberries in the food processor, pulse a few times, and then transfer the mixture to the lemonade.

Storage

Store the lemonade in a pitcher in the fridge for 3-5 days. Stir it well before serving.

Variations

  • This lemonade is absolutely delicious with a shot of vodka…:)
  • Turn the lemonade into popsicles and pour into a popsicle mold.
  • Play around with different berries or a combination of berries.
  • For a slightly fizzy lemonade, use sparkling water.
  • For a tropical twist, use coconut water instead of tap water to make the lemonade.
  • Have a ninja creami? Toss a handful of strawberries into your container, add a bit of sweetener, fill the line with your lemonade, and freeze. Then cream-ify as normal. I have also used the low-calorie Simply Lemonade for this as well.

FAQs

Do I have to use powdered lemonade?

Of course not – use your favorite from-scratch recipe or this one from Martha Stewart: Mix one cup of warm water with one cup of freshly squeezed lemon juice (6 to 8 lemons) and one cup of sweetener until well combined. Next, add about five more cups of ice-cold water to make the drink ready to serve.

Can I double this recipe?

Yes absolutely! If you want to double it just use twice the amount of the ingredients listed.

Can I use frozen strawberries?

Yes frozen strawberries will work. Just let them thaw first and then you can muddle them.
