Most Popular Sewing Projects from 2018

Happy New Year!  The new year is always one of my favorite times of the year.  Time for new beginnings, organizing and reenergizing all of my goals and future plans, plus so many other fun activities.

One of my favorite New Year activities to do for the blog is to review all of the new posts published the previous year to find out what was most popular and maybe identify a few new trends and post ideas for the coming year.

I will admit, I did not accomplish as much this year as I would have liked.  We’ve been in the process of building a custom home which has taken up a significant amount of my time.  (In fact, I have fielded at least 7 phone calls and texts from my husband regarding tile in the bathrooms while I have tried to compose the opening paragraph of this post.)

I have also found it very difficult to be creative in our tiny, overflowing rental house.  My craft room/office has become the “dumping ground” for all misc. items and it is almost impossible to find any space to work.

The good news is we are close to finishing and have to be out of our rent house at the end of next week.  The bad news is, the house will not be move-in ready at the end of next week.  We should be able to move the furniture and boxes into the garage and a few smaller pieces into the house.  And I also have a 2-week reservation for our fifth wheel in a nearby RV park.  (thank goodness, the RV has a king-size bed for me and a separate sleeping area for each child, plus an extra-large refrigerator/freezer!)

Hopefully, by Feb 1st, we’ll be settled.  (Hubby is even planning a Superbowl party – all I can do is laugh at that thought or maybe cry.  I’m not sure which.)

I have a few new goals for the coming year… #1 is I would like to hire (yes, this is a paying position) one or more sewing blogger/contributors to create a few new sewing tutorials a month. (Details here.)   #2, I want to publish a few new patterns for ladies and #3, I have 5 or 6 girls sewing patterns that need additional sizes.

The number 1 post for 2018 was this DIY Bubbling Cauldron post from Halloween.  Not even sewing-related, but it was such a fun project.  We won our neighborhood trunk or treat display and I know it was the cauldron that put us over the top!

  1. Hi Jamie,
So looking forward to sewing using your peasant dress. Call me scattered, do you use the one sleeve and make the changes for the different looks?
My oldest granddaughter is a tall 5 yr old, it’s great how you’ve sized the pattern wit this wide range. She has 2 others behind her and they love to match! By end of week I hope to post the 3 dresses!
    Thank you,
    Barb

  2. So many lovely free patterns – thank you for such great gifts! Happy New Year!
